  1. I was the pumper when my friend and I would ride to the supermarket parking lot where he’d grab hold of a shopping cart and I’d pedal at high speed and we’d crash the cart into another cart. Lotta laughs.

Cycling and juvenile delinquency, a winning combo.

  2. Pumping used to be slang for farting where I’m.

In spirit in which this was recorded, I listened to it while driving on the 5 & 57 freeways on my GMR

  3. Never heard the term “pumping”, but I did ride my next door neighbor to school for awhile on the handlebars of his Dad’s 10 speed when I was between bikes. Some bike boom Peugeot or maybe a Raleigh? The bars were flipped up and he was a little guy and fit right between the hooks.

Can’t say we remained friends forever, he was actually a real little asshole. I do remember it was a lot of fun riding double though. Especially jumping curbs and trying to scare him getting as close to parked cars, light poles etc. I guess I was kind of an asshole too….
